Coming Events

Introduction to Myofascial Sports Massage 2 CE – Course # 20-255432

Students learn the basic principles and theories of Myofascial Sports Massage (MSM), learn the standing structural awareness test and learn basic body reading as a way to evaluate clients. The instructor demonstrates basic and advanced MSM spreading strokes and then combines these strokes into a full-body MSM routine and demonstrates how it can be completed in 30 minutes. This course is suitable for presentation to a large group of massage therapists or students.

Since 1997, Pete Pfannerstill has been a licensed sports massage therapist. He is the owner of UltraSports Massage Therapy in Tampa Florida where he specializes in Myofascial Sports Massage, Structural Integration and the Kinesio Taping® Method for the treatment of his athletic clientele. He is an active member in the American Massage Therapy Association, the Florida State Massage Therapy Association (FSMTA) and is nationally certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).

Pete is a continuing education provider, approved by the State of Florida (#50-2081) and the NCBTMB (#386613-00), teaching sports massage courses and the Kinesio Taping® Method as a Certified Kinesio Taping Instructor. In 2004, he was a member of the Athens Olympics Health Services Sports Massage Team. He served as the Chairman of the Florida State Massage Therapy Assn. Sports Massage Committee and served locally as the Coordinator of the FSMTA Tampa Bay Chapter Team. Pete served on the Kinesio Taping Association Education Committee.

Pete currently organizes the UltraSports Massage Team at the Ironman World Championship 70.3, at the Gasparilla Distance Classic and at the St. Anthony’s Triathlon. He was selected by the 2004 Athens Health Services Sports Massage Team for the Athens Olympic Games and is a Level 2 Olympic Sports Massage Therapist in the USOC Volunteer Sports Medicine Program. From 1999-2007, Pete worked as a massage therapist in the New York Yankees system.

On a personal note, Pete is an experienced ultramarathon runner with over 40 marathons and ultramarathons to his credit including the 2000 Vermont 100 Mile Endurance Run (PR 23:30) and the 1995 St. George (Utah) Marathon (PR 3:13:12).

Chapter Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Meetings are held in the R "Builidng   - Room 248 at the corner of Virginia   Avenue & 30th Street, east side of Indian River State College -   'main campus' - Ft. Pierce on the 3rd Wednesday of the month -   7- 9   P.M. This is the most central location in our area

 Thanks to all our members who helped out last week for MTAW! Light the Night was really rainy but Bob Murray, Bob Grayson, Molly Simpkins-Rehyansky, Debbie Myers, Grace Duffy, and James Bailey all hung in there to do their part. Special thanks again to Bob Murray and Molly Rehyansky, along with Sharon Matz, Suzanne Jensen, Margaret Combs, and LeeAnn Williams-Black for being part of the Compassionate Fatigue Event.
